Music Festival Recommendations: Chasing Summer

By Nick Petlock on March 8, 2021

One day life will return to normal. I know at this point it doesn’t really seem like that, but I promise you it will. That is why I am here to prepare you with some opportunities to make some amazing memories. That is right, it’s time to talk about another music festival for you to travel to! For this blog, I will be recommending the music festival Chasing Summer. I’ve made some amazing memories with my friends at this festival and I want you to as well. So without further ado, let’s get into it.

What is Chasing Summer?

Chasing Summer is an electronic music festival and it’s right next door to Edmonton, in Calgary, at the Max Bell Center! Just a two and a half-hour drive away to an amazing venue. This annual festival takes place in the beautiful month of July, and it is something you do not want to miss. It is only for two days, but believe me, two days is enough. By the time it is over, you would have already lost your voice screaming with top artists, and your legs would be giving out from all the dancing.

The People

Unlike Shambhala (the previous blog,) this festival brings in a lot of the younger generation. The “Chad’s” and “Stacy’s” will definitely be present at this festival as well. Though, if you go with all of your friends, you won’t need to worry about them. I’m not saying all that go to this festival are trouble makers, partly because my friends and I attend this festival, and partly because I have made some amazing friends at this festival. You might just need to sift through the ocean of tank tops and temporary tattoos to find the good ones.

What You Can Do

Chasing Summer comes set with three stages. One local artist stage tucked away at the bottom of the hill. A sideshow stage, that hosts smaller DJs around the world. Then, the main attraction. A towering stage right in the center of the venue. Prepared with dancers, hundreds of PK speakers, massive led monitors, lights, and fireworks, that only holds the largest names in the EDM world. When I say towering, I mean you can see it from downtown. Bring your earplugs, because it’s loud. Then when you need to take a break from the constant raging, you can go grab some drinks from bars placed all around the venue, or maybe grab a bite to eat from one of the many food vendors. The only issue I have is that to get anywhere around this festival you need to shoulder check everyone to get where you are going.

Right before heading to the festival, we did not look this way after it was done.

Conclusion

Don’t just take my word for it. Go to this festival. It isn’t too expensive, and if you go with friends you can save money on a hotel or an Air BNB. Like I have said before, I have made some amazing friends and memories at this festival. Who knows when the next one will because of this dang COVID, but when it does finally schedule another, at least now you will be prepared to buy a ticket!
