Video Games to Play During Lockdown

By Nick Petlock on February 10, 2021

As we are all aware by now, not being able to see our friends, or go out during the weakened because of lockdown, can get extremely boring. I am here to hopefully help you solve that problem with some wicked video game ideas. This won’t be a top 5 list, but rather, I will give one game recommendation per console, excluding the newest consoles.

Xbox One

Starting off with the Microsoft masterpiece, the Xbox One. This one is the easiest for me because during my lockdown this is the console I used and I played Halo: The Master Chief Collection. This is a great choice, because not only is the Halo series absolutely amazing, but The Master Chief Collection comes with all the Halo games, as long as you have the Xbox Game Pass. The collection will include Halo C.E., Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, Halo Reach, Halo 4, and Halo 5 Guardians. This game collection is nothing more than a major time killer and a ton of fun.

Nintendo Switch

Moving on to the greatest Nintendo console created (in my opinion) the Nintendo Switch. For the Nintendo, there is a ton of super long enjoyable games but I have to go with, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The amount of fun I had playing this game is unmatched. This gigantic open-world masterpiece is jam-packed with so much to do, to explore, quests to complete, consumables to pick up, and unlockables to unlock. All that paired with one of the greatest storylines in a video game. Honestly, if you pick this game up, you wouldn’t be able to 100% during a lockdown even if you wanted to. Meaning, nonstop fun to be had.

Playstation 4

Moving on to the console created by Sony, which has been releasing some amazing titles over the past year, the Playstation 4. For this console I have a runner up, I would say, God Of War 4, though it is one tracked and quite quick to complete. So instead, I say Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Now I know what your thinking, am I gonna say “you really feel like Spider-Man,” yes that is an easy way to say it, but, it’s true. This game is so clean, so smooth, the combat is fantastic, and don’t even get me started on how good it feels to swing around the city of New York. This game includes so much to do, along with another amazing storyline. You get to fight bosses like Rhino, Kingpin, Venom, and many more, alongside the OG Spider-Man, Peter Parker. What more can you ask for!

PC

Finally, the big boss of video games, the OG, the “I spent $2500 on a gaming computer to play Minecraft,” the PC. There are millions of games to play on the PC, though we are gonna steer away from super main-stream games and stick to more indie platform gaming. The game of choice? The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth, along with the expansion, Afterbirth +. This is an indie rogue-like game that is guaranteed to keep you entertained for months at a time. This game includes over a hundred different bosses and hundreds of different items you can use to upgrade your character as you plunge down through different floors such as the basement, all the way to even the pearly gates of The Cathedral. As you make your descent, you are forced to fight many different monsters, demons, and even pieces of poo to make your way to the item rooms, shops, and then eventually, the boss rooms. This game has me completely hooked and I honestly am unable to stop playing. If you want a game that is…different to say the least, please do yourself a favour and check this game out!

That is all I have for you. You honestly won’t even be able to finish most of these games during lockdown because of how large they are. Hopefully, this will keep you entertained for the time you are stuck at home. Remember, stay safe, but have fun!
