Top 5 Songs From The Soundtrack Show
By Ayman Hashem on September 25, 2023
Today I’m going to be counting down my personal top five favourite songs featured on me, Megan, and Katelyn’s soundtrack show. We’ve featured many songs from many different genres of movies so narrowing it down to just 5 was no easy task, but I think I’ve found a top 5 I’m happy with.
5.All Star – Smash Mouth
If you know Megan, you know she lives and breathes Shrek. So it was a no-brainer for her to choose Shrek as her movie when we talked about animated movies. And with Shrek, there must also come All Star. This song is just so much fun to scream at the top of your lungs with no regard for the people around you that are most definitely going to get annoyed after the first chorus. But who cares about them? If they aren’t singing with you, they aren’t all stars.
4.I’m Just Ken – Ryan Gosling
Continuing the theme from the last song, this is another track that’s perfect for screaming the chorus at the top of your lungs. Personally, I couldn’t think of anyone better than Ryan Gosling to play Ken and that statement includes the soundtrack. The man can sing. And the dance number in the movie? Just incredible all around. A perfect 10, some might say.
3.Can I kick it? – A Tribe Called Quest
If you’re a fan of jazz rap, you definitely know this song. A classic 90’s bop most recently featured in the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT) movie. While the last three songs have been songs you couldn’t help but scream, this one’s a lot more calm in comparison. But don’t be fooled, that doesn’t make it bad by any means. In fact, in my opinion it’s better. My one wish for this song in the new TMNT movie is that it would have been used somewhere other than the credits. Like in some really cool action sequence or something. But that’s just me being nitpicky.
2.Dancing Queen – Meryl Streep
Have I ever watched Mama Mia? Not once. Do I still love this song? Of course. From the instant the piano roll starts the song off, the song has your attention. And it makes sure to keep it. I had no clue Meryl Streep could sing before hearing this song. And yes I know the song is originally by ABBA, but I’m still gonna give Meryl Streep her flowers. And of course I can’t talk about this song without talking about the hook. I wouldn’t be surprised if one day I lose my voice because of it. I’m honestly surprised it hasn’t happened yet.
1.Danger Zone – Kenny Loggins
Top Gun Maverick is another movie featured on the soundtrack show that I have yet to watch. Although Katelyn has made sure to sing its praises so one day I’ll be sure to check it out. But I can’t deny the insane amount of “America” I feel when this song plays. It’s like I can feel the bald eagles screeching in the sky accepting me as an honorary citizen of the United States of America for a total of three minutes and 36 seconds. This song alone makes me want to watch Top Gun Maverick and I honestly don’t know why I haven’t yet.
