Three Bands to Check Out If You Can’t Get Enough of “This Is Why”

By Tamara Pawloske on March 3, 2023

Paramore hadn’t released an album since 2017… but that changed earlier this month. Their newest album, This is Why is the band’s sixth studio album since forming in 2004. I’ve been listening to their last album, After Laughter since that came out in 2017, so it was great to hear new music from Hayley Williams and the rest of the band. One of my favourites from the new album has got to be “Liar”.

Though I’ve been listening to Paramore on repeat, I’ve also been exposed to some pretty cool artists that are similar to the iconic sound that Hayley Williams brings to Paramore. One of those artists is Alec Benjamin, who exploded in popularity in 2021 after one of his songs was performed on America’s Got Talent. One track that I love from Alec Benjamin is “Let Me Down Slowly.”

Around the same time I was introduced to Paramore, I got introduced to another artist that gives off the same carefree vibe as Hayley Williams: A Fine Frenzy. I’m honestly disappointed that they didn’t play a show together when A Fine Frenzy was more active. A track that I think embodies this similarity quite well is “Happier.”

The final band on this list is one that blew me away in 2013 with their debut album, The Narrator. The People The Poet really suits Paramore’s alternative rock sound. This group has kept up the great tunes ever since their debut, even through 2022. One that I fell in love with the second I heard it has got to be “Happy Without Me”.

Hopefully these songs will be sticking in your playlist with Paramore’s newest album. If you want to stick with me and chat, whether you have comments about this blog, or if you just want to see what I’ve been up to lately, check me out at any of the places listed on my Caard.
