The Oilers biggest needs going into the trade deadline.

The Edmonton Oilers have not been playing to the standards people have come to expect allowing 40 goals against in there last 8 games. Which is a 5 goals against average a game which is very poor and with the trade deadline under 10 days away some changes need to happen to this Oilers roster.

  • Help on the defensive side of the puck. This has turned into the most prominent issue for the team which is unfortunate because it really falls on they need a new top 4 right shot defenceman to play with Darnel Nurse. Which means it’s another trade deadline trying to find someone to play with him and fans are not happy that this has continued to be a problem for the team.
  • Depth scoring on the bottom six. This was the most prominent issue early in the season, but has now taken a back seat to the needs of another defenseman, but getting another forward who brings some offence into the team is something they definitely need. With injuries still hurting this team I think this could again become the biggest issue on this team if there looking to make a deep playoff run.
  • Potential for another new goalie? I don’t think the Oilers will trade for another new goalie but Tristan Jarry has been struggling in his last 7 games he only has 1 game were he had over a .900sv% which is not good and with the few remaining games before the trade deadline if nothing gets better I could see the Oilers shopping the market but only time will tell.
