The Oil Change

Before the NHL season started many people including myself were picking the Edmonton Oilers to win the stanley cup but after an extremely slow and disappointing start to the season the Oilers seem to have turned it around. After a win against the devils marking their 7th straight win the Oilers have finally clicked on seemingly all cylinders. To start the season they couldn’t get a save, couldn’t score and just couldn’t find a way to keep the puck out of their net. After this seven game winning streak however they have the number one save percentage, have drastically improved their defensive game in every aspect and have found how to score again. If you’ve watched this team in the last few years you know how important scoring is to this team. They were the number one offence in the NHL last season so nobody was expecting them to struggle offensively to start the season. Since the start of this streak they have outscored teams by a score of 35-12 so they’ve found a way to do everything even dig themselves out of the massive hole they put themselves in. With a record of 12-12-1 after the win over the devils this team is back in the playoff push again. They currently sit 3 points out of the final wild card spot with two games in hand. Not only are they back in the playoff picture but they seem to have their mojo back, and it’s about time.
