The Most Anticipated Video Games of 2026

By Arthur Foster on April 6, 2026

2026 is set to be another exciting year for new game releases. The state of the games industry is tumultuous at best, from droves upon droves of layoffs to rising game prices, but that hasn’t stopped developers from releasing some amazing games over the last few years. 2023’s Baldur’s Gate III and 2025’s Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 stand out as some contemporary hits. This year is showing a lot of potential as well, with many highly anticipated and long-awaited releases just on the horizon.

Star Wars Zero Company: 2026

Star Wars Zero Company is an upcoming tactical turn-based strategy game being developed by Bit Reactor. Zero Company is Bit Reactor’s debut release, but the developers are far from unexperienced. Many of Bit Reactor’s team are veterans of the XCOM franchise, a title that has been the source of much comparison for Zero Company. In the game, players will take on the role of Hawks, a former Republic Officer who is leading the black ops squad Zero Company in the backlines of The Clone Wars. You will build your squad with a variety of units such as astromech droids, an umbaran sniper, a clone trooper and even a Jedi Padawan, alongside several randomly generated soldiers. Like XCOM, permadeath is a key component of the game. Characters, even ones important to the story, can all die permanently during the games tactical missions. Zero Company will be available on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S & X. The game doesn’t have an official release date yet but is slated to launch sometime this year.

Invincible VS: April 30th, 2026

Invincible Vs is being developed by Quarter Up and is a 3v3 fighting game set in the universe of Invincible. Players will assemble teams of three fighters and face off in appropriately violent and cartoonish battles. Fans compare it to the similar Marvel Vs Capcom series, and the resemblance is clear. The release of the game lines up with the currently ongoing fourth season of Amazon’s Invincible animated series. An open beta is set to begin on April 9th, where anyone can try out the game for free. Invincible VS releases on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S & X and PC.

007 First Light: May 27th, 2026

007 First Light is being developed by IO Interactive, best known for their iconic Hitman series. First Light is essentially just Hitman but James Bond. You’ll be sneaking into hostile territory, hunting down a specific target and doing your best to remain undetected all the while. Unless you’re me, in which case you’ll make one solid attempt at stealth before charging in guns blazing. If you are a fan of Hitman, you will almost certainly enjoy this game, and if you are a fan of James Bond, you are probably too old to be reading this, but I’m sure you’d love it too. 007 First Light releases next month on May 27th and will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S & X, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC.

Grand Theft Auto Six: November 19th, 2026

By far one of the most anticipated games of all time, GTA 6 swears for real this time that it is releasing at the end of this year. Rockstar Studios is renowned for their gripping narratives, iconic characters and incredible attention to detail. The last game they released was Red Dead Redemption 2, one of my personal favourite games of all time, but that was all the way back in 2018. GTA 5 was released all the way back in 2013, making this a 13 year wait for the sequel. It is all but guaranteed that GTA 6 will shatter records and, regardless of the game’s quality, will rake in an absurd amount of money. We’ve been told many times before that GTA 6 was right around the corner, so who knows if another delay awaits us, but I believe that no matter what, the wait will be worth it. GTA 6 releases on November 19th on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S & X.
