The Air Fryer: A Lifestyle

By Danielle McClements on November 20, 2023

I hate cooking. When I try to make something on the stovetop, it turns into a monster and tries to eat me back.

One day I got sick of eating biohazards and decided it was time I make the leap to an air fryer. I had heard so much about how amazing these little appliances are supposed to be. “I can spare sixty dollars,” I thought to myself. “This is an investment I’m willing to make.” It took a few months for me to arrive at this conclusion, and reflecting back, I wish I had bit the bullet sooner. I have now been the proud parent of an air fryer for about a year, and I can honestly say that I’ve never loved a kitchen appliance so much. Never in my life did I think I’d be writing a blog preaching about an air fryer like my life depends on it, but here I am.

I’m a firm believer that influencer culture is awful and people are being pushed to buy things that they really don’t need. But right now, I’m throwing that all away. You NEED to buy an air fryer. It will change your life. Here’s why and how.

1. It’s fast and perfect every time

I’m no chef, and for most of my life, I didn’t think I’d ever be able to make a good steak by myself. Fast forward to now. I have a steak at least once or twice a month and it’s always a perfect slab of meat.

12 minutes at 400 degrees in the air fryer, flipped once halfway through. It’s a perfect medium steak every time.

Steak is just one example. But honestly, a quick Google search on how to cook something in the air fryer gets me a delicious meal every time I cook with mine. Literally, nothing I’ve ever made in the air fryer has taken longer than 20 minutes (including the preheating time) and it’s always cooked well. Chicken breast, fries, even a waffle. I have no complaints. This thing is a game changer in the time and quality department.

2. There’s no mess, and hardly a clean-up

When you cook something on the stovetop, your pan is usually greased up. When it gets hot, where does that grease go? All over your stove (and sometimes you). That’s a mess I don’t want to clean up.

The air fryer is a beautiful tool because once you throw your food in the basket and shut it, you can forget about it until you have to flip. It’s sealed in there so there’s no chance of any backsplash. Once you’re done cooking, scrub the basket with some hot, soapy water and boom. You’re done. It’s so fast and simple, it brings a tear to my eye just thinking about it.

3. You can buy what you need for your lifestyle

My air fryer is just a little guy. I live alone and I eat one-person sized meals, so it’s perfect for my lifestyle. My mom on the other hand lives in a two person household with a man who eats man-sized meals. She has one of those incredibly fancy Ninja two-basket air fryers. I know others who have air fryers that perfectly suit their five person families.

The wonderful thing about air fryers is that they come in a variety of shapes and sizes that perfectly suit your lifestyle. Number of baskets, small, big, cooking options, it’s all customizable!

If you can’t already tell, I love this machine.

Souvlaki shish kabobs in only 8 minutes! No work required!

Final thoughts

If you’re still on the fence about buying an air fryer, take it from me. I never have a penny to spare but I would still buy an air fryer again and again just because of how fantastic this appliance is. Bite the bullet today. Go to Canadian Tire right now and buy one. Your cooking experience will never be the same again.

It’s not just an air fryer, it’s a lifestyle.
