S&S World Baseball Classic Recap

The 2023 World Baseball Classic delivered on being one of the most hotly contested tournaments in years. The tournament featured 20 teams, including defending champions the United States, as well as perennial powerhouses like Japan, the Dominican Republic, Cuba and Mexico. 

This year’s tournament also saw the return of two teams that have been absent from the competition in recent years. Both Venezuela and Puerto Rico have participated in the 2023 WBC, being played splitly in both Japan and Miami. adding even more excitement to what had already shaped up be an incredible event. 

With the ultimate conclusion of the World Baseball Classic in Miami. Shohei Ohtani and team Japan came out as the ultimate victors with a 3-2 win over the USA. The storybook ending had teammates Ohtani and Mike Trout of the Los Angles Angels facing off over the plate, with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th. It all ended with Trout chasing a wild slider from Ohtani making Trout chase low and away. Something that Trout rarely does in his career; he has only been struck out 33 times on a 2 strike count. 

Overall, the 2023 World Baseball Classic promised to be an unforgettable event and it delivered. bringing together the best players and fans from around the world. Whether you’re a die-hard baseball fan or simply looking for an exciting sporting event to watch, the WBC surely delivered.
