Songs to Watch: LOL Edition

Here come some more music videos, with a theme! Yes, it’s Songs to Watch! This time around, lets get into my very favourite breed of video, the hilarious ones! There is a stipulation this time: no Weird Al Yankovic videos. If there were, it would only be those, so I’ll save them for another time. This is Songs to Watch: LOL edition!
Hot Chip – Hungry Child
Have you ever fantasized that you had your own music soundtrack following you everywhere you went? (I think Peter Griffin had that dream once…) Seems like a good idea, until you don’t get to choose the music. Hungry Child by Hot Chip shows a couple dealing with the paranormal occurrence of a ‘house track’ following them around. A music video where everyone is annoyed at the music, the comedy writes itself!
Miike Snow – Genghis Kahn
I’m a little foggy how popular this song got, but I feel like a lot of people were grooving to it not THAT long ago. The part I feel like everyone missed was just how funny the music video is! Let’s run through the day in the life of an evil James Bond style villain. Did you know an evil henchman’s day ends at five? It’s frustrating when there is a super spy to kill and everyone just wants to go home for the day. Then, what do you do when you fall in love with your prisoner? Release them and hope they return the feelings. Yes, this music has all that. It really is something worth sharing!
Goldfish – Get Busy Living
I had a bit of trouble choosing just one Goldfish music video. They’re all pretty funny and weird, plus they all rock! But when push comes to shove, I’m going with Get Busy Living. I especially love the cyclical nature of the video too. If you catch the very beginning, you see a suitcase getting off the baggage claim, freaking out a couple of people, who then rush into a recording studio. The suitcase leaves the airport and joins their better half (yellow suitcase seen to the left) to ride a rainbow. Then we see those freaked out humans create… a song! Which then gets put into a suitcase, which comes to life in the cargo hold of an airplane after being disrespected. We then see everything he does, until we end right back at the beginning again. A wild ride, with a great message, and a whole lot of fun along the way. Goldfish is always a good time (food or music).
Galantis – Peanut Butter Jelly
I feel bad that this song has been around nearly ten years now, and I’ve only heard it recently. And luckily, computers love to pay attention to what you’re watching and listening to, so YouTube thought it would be a good idea to let me know this song has a music video. And it’s amazing! Ever wondered what it would be like if everyone broke out into a dance while buying groceries? Wondered what it would be like if everyone was wearing tight leather while doing it? Galantis knows! This is a fun song and a fun music video if there ever was one!
Electric Six – Gay Bar
Abraham Lincon in leather hot shorts. That’s what you need to know before watching this music video. All sorts of connotations here. It’s best to just let the video speak for itself, which is great because I’m too busy laughing. Funny note, they censored some words in the music video for this song, and they are not quite what you’d expect. Nuclear war is not cool.
