Its’ been a mediocre first half to the season for the ACAC defending champs, the NAIT Ooks hockey club. The men lost the last three games and currently sit in fourth place in league standings with a 6-5-1 record. With expectations high heading into the season to repeat as champions, it defiantly wasn’t the first half they envisioned. Ooks dropped both games to the University of Alberta Augustana in the their final two games before the break, 3-2 and 5-2.

The club’s been led by fourth-year forward Dylan Stewart, who sits third in league scoring, with 15 points through 12 games. Stewart is also tied for first in assists with 12. Brandon Lawson, third-year forward, has had a strong campaign, with six tallies in 11 games, which leads the team. Goaltender Taryn Kotchorek has been exceptional in his second year with the team, posting a .925 save percentage and 2.61 goals against average, ranking him first in the league In both categories.

They will have a chance to rebound in the new year as they host SAIT on January 7th.
