Order Up! Phasmophobia’s Nell’s Diner serves a fresh slice of fear

By Liz Parent on November 21, 2025

Phasmaphobia’s brand-new map is their best yet. The game has been under heavy construction for the last little while, with no large updates since 2024. As seen from statements and their reuse of their 2024 Halloween event this year. So a new update in the form of a new map was much anticipated, and the wait was well worth it.

The new map, Nell’s Diner, is a quaint little diner in the middle of nowhere with warm vibes, but looking closer, there seems to be something sinister lurking. A cop car outside – lights still on, customers’ belongings thrown around, meals left uneaten and chairs left turned over. Seems everyone left in a hurry.

The storytelling of the map catches your attention right off the bat, but it’s not the only thing. The map itself, while it seems small, is one of the most complex maps they have released. The reason – attention to detail.

The second you open the map, you quickly realize how many things are interactive. A few that are new to the game and instantly caught my attention were;

  • A police car with its engine and lights still running
  • Tumble weeds rolling around
  • A jukebox that turns on with a click of a button and actually plays music
  • Vending machines you can kick for cola
  • Stand-up game machines that turn on to a play screen

And some not so obvious ones that I found as I played along include;

  • Ability to turn on and off the ‘open’ sign
  • The buzz of Nell’s neon sign out front
  • Working cash register, coffee machine, pop machine, order-up bell
  • Fire alarm
  • Water coolers
  • Whip cream dispenser
  • Swinging push doors
  • Lifting counter tops
  • Door flaps that move with you

Gameplay/Layout

The layout of the map is pretty unique, with a circular direction and small rooms branching off. (There have been a few maps that feature a circular section, but not on this large a scale.)

As you can see, it’s a pretty solid map, but what makes it interesting is how large the front diner section is. Because it’s so large, it’s actually split into sections where the ghost could haunt. So, in one corner, there may be evidence and, in the other, none. Which makes it pretty important to be thorough with your checking. The same thing applies in the large kitchen space. So, despite the map’s small size, this is one of those maps where you should expect a challenge and bring extra gear.

Brand new easter eggs

This map also has a special feature with its interactive easter egg. This is the second time they’ve done it; previously, we’ve seen another easter egg in Point Hope’s Ferryman of the Drowned in 2024. And that’s not to say that different maps haven’t had easter eggs (because they do), but this one has multiple parts before you get to their biggest easter egg yet.

And it all starts with an interactive safe and a code that you have to find. I won’t spoil too much for you, but it’s insane, huge and terrifying. It wasn’t overly difficult, but man, it was fun. It is by far their coolest easter egg and by far their largest in the game. And much like The Ferryman of the Drowned, completing the easter egg grants the player a new badge and ID card of ‘Ghost In The Machine.’

Nell’s Diner was a much-anticipated update and has brought another wonderful update to get spooky investigators back into the game. From its captivating storytelling, meticulous attention to detail, unique map design and engaging easter eggs, it’s no shock that fans are shouting praises at the game developers. And this NR92 DJ is one of them. If you’ve never played Phasmaphobia, now’s a great time to start, and if you’re a Phasmaphobia expert, this update is a compelling addition to the game lineup.
