Oilers fans patiently waiting on results

It’s been an up-and-down start to the season for the Edmonton Oilers. After losing to the eventual Stanley Cup champions, Colorado Avalanche, in the Western Conference Finals last year, the Oilers had high expectations coming into this season. After starting the year 1-2, and 2-3, the Oilers caught fire, winning five straight games, including a big win against provincial rival, the Calgary Flames. They proceeded to drop four of the following five, giving up an average of 4.8 goals per game. They also lost star forward Evander Kane for the next 3-4 months, who got his wrist sliced with a skate in Tuesday’s win against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl sit atop the NHL in points, with McDavid leading the league in goals (15) and Draisaitl leading in assists (18) through 15 games. Zach Hyman and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins are also on pace to shatter career highs. The Oilers have lacked scoring depth from their forwards. Kailer Yamamoto, who had high expectations for himself heading into the season, has just three assists through 13 games. And Jesse Puljujarvi has one goal and one assist through 15 games. Recently signed goaltender Jack Campbell has also struggled in his first ten games as an oiler posting a 4.27 goals-against average and .837 save percentage. The good news for Oilers fans is there in a struggling Pacific Division with 67 regular season games left for the club. The Oilers have an 8-7 record sitting 4th in the Pacific Division with 16 points. They have a chance to turn things around in Florida when they take on the Panthers.
