The Oil Kings won a pair of games over the weekend defeating the Brandon Wheat Kings 5-2 on Friday and the Lethbridge Hurricanes 4-2 on Saturday.

Gavin Hodnett led the way on Friday with his first 3 WHL goals in a five point night. Cole Miller scored the other two goals for the Oil Kings as the team scored three unanswered goals in the third to break the 2-2 tie.

Special Teams which have been a weakness for the Oil Kings all season long were strong scoring 3 goals on the power play and holding Brandon to one on theirs. Kolby Hay played his best game of the season making 36 saves, while Carson Bjornson made 19 saves in the losing effort.

They look absolutely slick in my opinion.

On Saturday the Oil Kings overcame a 2-1 third period deficit with three unanswered goals. Carson Golder was involved in all 3 goals with 2 goals and an assist. This puts Carson Golder at 13 points on the year surpassing last years total of 12 points, and is only one point away from his career high in his entire professional career.

Marshall Finnie scored the game winner with 17.6 seconds to play to give the Oil Kings momentum heading into the week. Kolby Hay made 30 saves in the win. Bryan Thomson made 25 saves for the Hurricanes.

This makes the Oil Kings 4-17-1 and out of last place in the league as they have the same number of points as the Victoria Royals but one more win.

The Oil Kings have an easy week with three games against teams in the bottom 10 of the league.
