MUSICAL INFO: This musical is an adaptation of the Greek tragedy and story of Orpheus and Eurydice.
In this song, Eurydice made a deal with Hades to be brought into the Underworld, also known as Hadestown. Within the song, you can hear as she’s grappling with the fact that she is leaving the living world into the land of the dead. The song also has this feeling of where Eurydice is also feeling betrayed, broken, and defeated as she has given up hope for Orpheus to come and find her. There is also this feeling of anger and regret, but is overtaken by the defeat she feels in loss of hope.

MUSICAL INFO: The song is from the movie adaptation of Broadway’s In The Heights, this is the song of Abuela Claudia’s passing.
This song conveys so much emotion as the story of Olga’s character is so deeply important to what it means to be an immigrant in the United States. As her life flashes before her eyes, she still hangs onto the patience and faith that she held so dear as a child. Lyra Hale wrote an article and said: “I hope that people learn a little patience and faith when it comes from/to those who are different from them but have a dream just like anyone else of a better life for ourselves and the ones we call family. That is the gift that is In The Heights.” Olga Merediz, said in an interview herself: “I had to excuse myself [while re-watching her scene from the movie]. It was overwhelming because you see yourself, and it’s you, but it’s not you. It’s a transformation. It’s a creation and a transformation, but your there too. Your essence is there.”
It really just hits to home what it means to be an immigrant and how so many people can empathize with it. Olga Merediz’s emotion within it really carries over in every way.
