New Music Nooner! Andon Barmby

By Mack Carlyle on October 26, 2023

For my New Music Nooner, I chose to showcase the talented Andon Barmby. This talented young artist from Edmonton has been making music for 7 years now. He started making music, trying to find his passion. He made one song, and when he received praise, he realized he had an audience and has been working towards a future in music.

I met Andon at work as a bartender and knew he made music. When I finally listened to him on Spotify, I realized Andon was a super talented. And having listened to a ton of his songs to prepare for interviewing him I realized his art was something I genuinely enjoyed and loved listening to.

Andon started making music from his bedroom, making beats and producing his own product. When he started, he would get free beats off the internet, and finish songs in a day. But he wasn’t happy with the finished product. He learned to appreciate the process. Slow down, take a step back from his work and make the song he made the best it could be.

His music has a deep emotional meaning behind it. When Andon started making music, he was looking for a passion. He started making sadder songs and used his music to channel his emotions. “When I found music, I didn’t what to write about, but what if I just write about all the things in my life that really made me mad, made me sad or even happy” Andon had trouble talking about his feelings, saying he never saw a therapist and didn’t talk about his emotions. But channeling all of those feelings into music gave him an outlet letting him express his emotions.

Andon has been making great strides in his music career and has been able to colab with a ton of great artists, including Rick Ross. If you want to listen to more of Andon’s music, check him out on Spotify. He has a new single, I Keep Trying, dropping October 30th.
