The NAIT Ooks men’s hockey club is starting this season right where they left off last year. The Ooks captured the ACAC Championship last season, with high expectations heading into this season to repeat as champions. Ooks kicked off their regular season last weekend, playing a home and home vs. rival Concordia University. They swept the 2-game series, taking the first game at home on Friday, 4-2. They were led by 4th year forward Mitchell Williams, who scored the first two goals of the game, including a shorthanded goal 6:39 into the 2nd period. Rookie goaltender Ryley Osland picked up his first collegiate win, stopping 33 of 35 shots. The Ooks shutout Concordia in the 2nd game of the weekend, 2-0. Bjorn Robinson led the charge picking a goal and an assist in the victory. Fourth-year collegiate goalie Taryn Kotchorek picked up his first career shutout stopping all 30 shots he faced. The Ooks are back in action this weekend at home vs. SAIT. Puck drop is set for 7:00 pm on Friday and 5:45 pm on Saturday.
