My 5 favourite songs from The Tortured Poets Department
By Kate Gullekson on May 3, 2024
Taylor Swift has blessed our ears once again. Two weeks ago she released her new album called The Tortured Poets Department. This album has everything from Heartbreak slow songs to Heartbreaking upbeat songs. This album is in my top four out of 11 albums . I thought it would be a good time to tell you my five favourite songs for The Tortured Poets Department. And these songs will change rankings many times. Buckle up because I have 31 songs to choose from.
- “Down Bad”
I love this song. The instrumental at the beginning sounds really cool, the writing is amazing, and of course the chorus is super catchy. This song gets even more heartbreaking once you hit the bridge and listen to the words. This whole song is beautiful and I have it on repeat which is why it is number 1 for me.
- “So Long, London”
The beginning of the song gives me chills. This song is beautiful but so heartbreaking at the same time. This song ties in with her song London Boy which she wrote for the album Lover that came out in 2019 which makes it so much better in my opinion. And of course this song is beautifully written and it is currently ranked at number 2.
- “The Smallest Man Whoever Lived”
Another song that is a heartbreaker. The words in this song wreaked me and I was a mess when I listened to this song. Taylor Swift continues to prove why she is one of the best in the industry. The reason this is number 3 is the song writing and the bridge is one of the best i have ever heard in my life.
- “Cassandra”
People online are starting to think that this song is about Kim Kardashian which makes me like this song even more because I think it’s funny. I love the instrumental and lyrics in this song. And this song is probably my favourite from the back half of the album.
- “Fortnight”
When I heard that Post Malone was featured on this track I was very excited because I love Post Malone. This was the first single to be put out when the new album got released. And the music video is very creative. The only critic I have for this song is that I wish Post Malone sang a verse and wasn’t just background vocals. I wish he sang in the song more but I still love both these artists and this song.
These rankings will change many times for me and maybe they will for you. If you haven’t listened to this album yet you definitely should because it is amazing and heartbreaking all at the same time. Let me know what you think of the album in the comments.
