Meatman’s Merry Music Picks

Welcome back to Meatman’s music picks, Christmas edition. Here on NR92 we play only the best beats for every occasion, well what about Christmas? DJ Meatman has got your back for this one. Bringing you my absolute favourite Christmas songs that aren’t just carols.

Starting with number three on my list, Happy Xmas by John Lennon. I find this song absolutely devastating, something about the way the beat hits and its suddenly so beautifully overwhelming reminds me of the feeling of overcoming something huge in life and celebrating the holidays after surviving through something hard. It’s a classic and a hard hitter every time I turn it up in my headphones and watch a snow storm outside of the bus window. the song has a heavy but freeing vibe to it.

Second, Blue Eyes Like the Devils Water by McCafferty. Not a Christmas song, but a song I listen to around the Christmas season. It paints a picture for me of a frigid small town with icy roads and snow storms. The song isn’t exactly merry and joyful but its worth a listen if you like Midwest emo.

Finally, number one. Last Christmas, by Wham! I’m sure you are sick of hearing this song all the time around Christmas but I cant get enough of it. I love George Michael and I find this song to have a nice actual song vibe rather than a Christmas carol with the same bells and whistles as every other Christmas song.
