It’s Sho Time

There’s a new sheriff in town when it comes to the largest contract in North American Sports history, and that is Shohei Ohtani. He signed a record breaking 10 year 700 million dollar deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers. The deal was largely suggested to come in in the 500-600 million range so seeing this surprised everyone in the sports world. Part of the surprise came from the fact that he was rumoured to be on a flight to Toronto to join the Blue Jays the day before signing his deal. With an MLB insider even saying he was headed to Toronto. As a Blue Jays fan I was ecstatic, and then my soul was just torn out of my chest once I saw news that he went to the Dodgers. 

Shohei Ohtani is so much more than a baseball player he’s a global brand. A brand that will earn the Dodgers roughly 25 million dollars next year from brand deals alone.
