From the Ooks Ice to Under the Lights

By Matthew Graham on January 26, 2023

One Ook has been given an exceptional opportunity to really improve his competition. Westin Cardwell of the Men’s Ooks Hockey team was designated as the Ebug for the Edmonton Oilers last night against the Columbus Blue Jackets. the 6-foot goaltender put together quite a run last season posting a 3.00 GAA (Goals Against Average) and a 912% save percentage. This gave him opportunities to practice with the Oilers when a third goalie was needed. ultimately giving Westin the chance to suit up and possibly play in his first NHL game for his hometown team.

Westin Cardwell was interviewed on 630 CHED during the second intermission by Reid Wilkins and Rob Brown, Two guys he has grown up listening to while the Oilers battled to stay above water during the decade of darkness. He spoke humbly about the opportunity and where he played junior hockey in Edmonton. Including he went to school with Montreal Canadiens forward Kirby Dach, who helped him hone his craft. Thankfully for the Oilers goaltending Westin Cardwell was not needed, but if the need arises Westin is ready and up to the challenge to represent NAIT and the City of Edmonton under the lights of Rogers Place. Rember to Tune into NR92.com and listen to Westin and your Ooks men for all the games!
