Four songs with a colour in the title that you should listen to

Judging a book by its cover or judging a song by its colour?

No Judging today, just a four songs that you should listen to that have a colour in the title.

Song #1: Goodbye Yellow Brick Road by Elton John

This Elton John classic was released in 1973, 50 years ago now, and still manages to hit home.

Song #2: Brown Eyed Girl by Van Morrison

Do you have brown eyes? If so, this next song might just be about you. Brown Eyed Girl by Van Morrison is off of the album ‘Blowin’ Your Mind!’ which was Van Morrison’s debut studio album. Rolling Stone said this was one of the 40 essential albums to have in 1967.

Song #3: Purple Rain by Prince

This song was originally 11 minutes long before a chorus and verse were taken off. Now, it sits just under the 9 minute mark. Seems like he was competing with Meatloaf for longest ballads.

Song #4: Yellow Submarine by The Beatles

The Beatles always manage to sneak into the mix. They have a couple of songs with colours in the title, but Yellow Submarine came out as the winner. This song is seen as a children’s song, but many music gurus tried to dig deep and come up with theories as to what Yellow Submarine could actually be about. I won’t get into the deep rooted thoughts, but some said it was about drugs and war, which makes sense because most songs at that time fell into that category.

Lot’s of older songs fell under this category. Maybe it was a requirement to have one colour in a title per album at the time. As the next requirement they should make each artist have at least one animal in a song title. Spice things up a little bit.
