For you, my tribute to our last semester at NR92

By Nicky Houseman on November 21, 2025

I have a passion for making playlists (who doesn’t?). This week I was tasked with being Social Media Content Manager, a role with various responsibilities of varying challenge levels. But when asked to provide a weekly playlist – did you know our DJ’s drop a playlist every week? – I couldn’t help but scroll through my archives and choose songs that represented how I feel now, in November 2025, only four weeks left until being thrown from this comfy radio nest and into the real world.

Presenting: November92! A playlist by Nicky Houseman.

A little bit about the songs chosen:

Same As It Ever Was / AM/FM : These are songs that speak towards a chilled, peaceful Radio mood. I love the sounds of dial-switching as a piece of production in a song. “Same as it ever was” – generations of broadcasters have been raised in the exact spot we are. How does that feel?

Ball Pit : It feels melancholic. Excuse me – this time of year, for all semesters, is a challenge of balance, endurance, proactivity/foresight and planning. “It’s a challenge, but it’s all so fun!” is what I’ve been telling people for the last year and a half. “Oh, I wish I was back in bed…

Sixteen Tons : Keep going. Keep working. The successes outweigh the struggles. It’s all worth it, I promise. We all work together.

Dragula : This was the most fun song to share with my favourite onair cohost Dalyce – it’s a country ballad version of Rob Zombie’s Dragula! Holidays at NR92 are some of the most fun you’ll have at the station, because we all have a unified theme to work with. This year we were promoting the Yikes! Film Festival, so it was a free-for-all on spooky shenanigans and scary sound effects (at least for me). When November rolled around I shared this on our show together: the perfect mashup of her country style and my haunted leanings.

Not Quite Almost Christmas Time : It’s not December yet, IT’S NOT DECEMBER YET. And yet, I still included Pennies From Heaven (famously used in Elf) because we still need a little holiday joy to keep us going.

Devil’s Train : Now THIS is Something Worth Sharing. I just wanted you to hear this one. “And not to annoy you but see I really have to ask, what’s a young dude like you is doin’ out by tracks?

Video Games : This Lana Del Ray cover by Trixie Mattel echoes November sentiment, to my ears. At the end of the day I just need to go home to him and play a video game. “Heaven is a place on Earth with you…

Night and Day (Live) : Featured in Wes Anderson’s Fantastic Mr. Fox, representing one of the best Autumn-to-Winter experiences. Enjoy the pianic stylings of Art Tatum (I think I made that word up).

Radio Selections from Once Upon a Time in Hollywood: This soundtrack is so cool – a flowing mashup of 70’s radio, curated by Quentin Tarantino for his 2019 film. This was why I wanted to pursue radio. I sincerely hope you like it as much as I do.

ENDING SONGS : I won’t spoil it, but this is my thank-you, and goodbye. One of my favourite (not safe for Radio!!!) songs, a tribute to triumph from NakeyJakey, and a kiss from Louis Prima. May your November treat you kindly as we enter December.
