Conner’s Top 3 Albums of 2024
By Conner Reinhardt on December 13, 2024
With Spotify Wrapped coming out recently, I felt like there was no better time for me to talk about my top 3 albums that I listened to in 2024. As a self-proclaimed “music guy” I think my music choices are worth sharing.
This album was on repeat for at least 3 months. Every song I on this album doesn’t feel like a filler, they all have meaning and purpose. And this album is Appetite for Destruction by Guns ‘n’ Roses. This came out in July of 1987, just about 37 years old. When I say it still holds up to today… it does. With tracks like Mr. Brownstone, Its So Easy and the crowd favourite Welcome to The Jungle, there’s no misses on this album. I recommend listening to this album next time you’re cleaning or doing housework to have a bit more fun.

Choosing my second favourite album was tough but I had to give it to Deftones. I’ve been listening to these guys religiously for the past year and a half, and I don’t plan on changing that. Picking an album was no easy task but I settled for Around the Fur released in October of 1997. It was 27 years ago when Deftones took their own spin on the Nu Metal and Alternative genre. The tracks I played the most were Mascara, Around the Fur, and Be Quiet and Drive (Far Away). Deftones are my go-to band when at the gym. The way they can turn a melancholy song into one of the heaviest things you’ve ever heard is hypnotizing. I recommend checking this album out.

My favourite album of 2024 has been the same since 2021 and I don’t think it’ll ever change. I listen to this album at least three times a month. This masterpiece is called When We Were Friends by The Backseat Lovers. Released in January of 2019, I haven’t found an album that can pull me away from everything happening in my life since. Songs like Pool House, Maple Syrup and Watch your mouth, changed my perception of music. Every song on this album is a no skip perfect song. This album has been with me through the highs and lows of my life and will continue to be for a long time. Out of all the albums I have on my list, give this one a try. Whether it’s the drive home from work/school, cooking, going on a walk, this album will fit anywhere in your life.

Though these albums didn’t come out in 2024, they still deserve the attention and appreciation. So next time your driving home, on a walk, or just want to listen to some good music, check these out.
