Bam Adebayo had HOW MANY?!

By James Nicholson on March 19, 2026

As I sit here, wracking my brain for things to talk about here on NR92.com, something magical happened.

Bam Adebayo broke Kobe Bryant’s record for most televised points in a single NBA game. Bam averages less than 20 points a game. Last night, he played the Washington Wizards and their hilariously bad defence.

He had 83.

Whilst shooting below 50%, mind you. Only making twenty of his 43 total shots, only seven of which were three-pointers. So, you must be wondering, how on God’s Green Earth did he manage 83 points in a single game? Well, the answer is simple. Of those 83 points, 36 were from the free throw line. A truly diabolical showing of a lack of ethics. However, the question I’m asking of both myself and you is, does it really matter?

If you ask me, no. It really couldn’t matter any less. Give yourself the space to actually think about it. Does it really matter that it was Bam who broke Kobe’s record? Is the issue the fact that the record was broken at all, or that it was Bam Adebayo, a chronically underwhelming big man? Or is this exactly what Kobe, in all his debatable legacy, would’ve wanted? Do all of those questions actually matter? I don’t think so. To rephrase a quote from also debatably legendary director Zack Snyder, ‘it doesn’t matter, the record got broken.’ There’s no use being upset that Kobe’s already debatable legacy has yet another asterisk. There’s also no use being upset that Bam Adebayo, somebody you don’t really think about as a scorer, was the one to break that record. However, you know what there IS use in doing?
