AJA Loudens Graffiti Art and Aerosol Academy

By Nick Petlock on February 8, 2021

Inspired by food, people and the community, it shows in AJA Loudens work. All across Edmonton, you can find something he’s painted. With a background in industrial design, one of AJA’s goals is to make cities and spaces more inspiring and engaging with the use of art and design. If you’ve been to Kingsway transit centre, you’ve probably seen his work called the Stories that Weave Us, a reflection on the history of three Edmonton faith communities. He’s painted murals supporting iHuman, Boyle Street Community Services and the Old Strathcona Youth Society.

In addition to his work, AJA also developed The Aerosol Academy in 2011. The Aerosol Academy workshop series teaches people of all ages about art-making and art history through the lens of graffiti and street art. The Academy also provides workshops on chalk wall art, black book, also known as sketchbook and the history, the culture, the tools and techniques behind graffiti and street art. AJA says he has some exciting projects for 2021 and the future of his growing studio looks bright.
