A Look Into Newest Edmonton Oiler: Trent Frederic
By Benjamin Thomson on March 7, 2025
The Oilers are a team looking to capture greatness this year, other words for saying they are in contention of winning the Stanley Cup. The Oilers made it to game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals last season and although that seems like a respected finish, the Oilers aren’t satisfied. For as long as they have Conor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, they are gonna be a team that tries to compete. That’s why this year, The Oilers start their trade deadline off with acquiring Trent Frederic.
To EDM: Trent Frederic, Max Jones, Petr Hausner
To BOS: Max Wanner, 2025 2nd RD, 2026 4th RD
To NJ: Shane LaChance
Trent Frederic has played his pro career for the Boston Bruins organization, eclipsing 18 goals and 40 points as his career high last year. Now this season for Frederic, hasn’t been as smooth. In his shortened 57 game season so far, he has just 8 goals and 15 points. The Oilers look to improve those numbers in a new home for Frederic as he will be looked at as a depth piece to help Edmonton push them over the top. Frederic is a young, high flying, skilled player that plays with heart. There’s no doubt the Oilers got better from this, but are the Oilers done? In my opinion the Oilers still need to add at least one defenseman before the deadline is over. But this Frederic trade has certainly added some excitement for Oilers fans.
