3 *VERY* Early Grammy Predictions for 2026

By Darrien Byers on February 24, 2025

The 2025 Grammy Awards have come and gone. We saw Doechii become the third female to win Rap Album of the Year, Sabrina Carpenter win her first Grammy Award, and Beyoncé finally win Album of the Year for her album “Cowboy Carter.”

But that’s all in the past now, and with the 2026 Grammy Awards already having huge contenders, it’s time to give my 3 predictions for next year’s Grammy Awards.

  • Tate McRae will be nominated and win the Best New Artist category

I’m sure everyone is thinking this, but with hit songs like “Sports Car” and “It’s ok, I’m ok” taking over the world, who can blame them? Now, It feels like a guarantee that the Calgary singer will be at least nominated for the prestigious award, but with her newest album release So Close To What? I think she is going to go all the way and win it. When (not if, when) she does win, she will be the 2nd Canadian to ever win the award, following in the footsteps of fellow Canadian Alessia Cara, and would continue to cement her as a main pop girl.

  • Kendrick Lamar and Tyler The Creator will face off for all major Rap Music Categories

The 2026 Grammy’s rap category is going to be a tight race, that is for sure. However, as of now, Kendrick Lamar’s “GNX” and Tyler The Creator’s “Chromakopia” appear to be the front runners. Both artists respectfully have been loved by the Grammy’s in years past and this one appears to be no different. Now, the winner between the two rappers is a toss up. It truthfully could go either way between the “Sticky” rapper and the “Luther” rapper, but it’s going to be a VERY tough battle for the trophy between them.

  • Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco album snubbed from nominations

Both Selena Gomez and her fiancé Benny Blanco are no strangers to The Grammy’s. Shockingly, Gomez has only been nominated for 2 Grammy’s in her whole music career and Blanco with 11 nominations. Even more shocking, neither have won the coveted Grammy Award and unfortunately, I don’t believe this year will be their year. Though their song “Call Me When You Break Up” featuring Gracie Abrams (another Grammy Award non-winner) is very promising for them, they’re going up against Grammy powerhouses like Kendrick Lamar, Lady Gaga, and who appears to be Chappell Roan who is currently gearing up to release her new album this year. I truly would love to believe that the two music moguls will finally clinch the Grammy this year, however it’ll be a tough battle.
