Spring mowing woes

With Spring having been sprung on March 19th we are all going to be getting the lawnmowers out of the shed.

When we do get the mower out it’s usually because we are about to use it, which is when we find out it isn’t working. Michael Donnelly, General Manager of the Lawnmower Hospital, a small engine repair shop here in Edmonton, highlights some common storage mistakes.

“Storing them on their side or upright just due to lack of space is a common problem. But most commonly, just putting it away and forgetting to drain the fuel or [to] clean it, as again steel deck machines, for example, would see a lot of rust buildup.”

Donnelly says the best time generally is between February and March for mower repair, nearing the end of winter.
