Ooks Men’s Basketball Team Push to 3-1 Under New Head Coach

The Ooks have been off to a hot start this season and looking better than ever after a promising off-season, with lots of new faces both in the locker room and the coaching staff.

This fantastic start for the Ooks men’s basketball team comes with much excitement as they begin the season 3-1 after a win against the Red Deer Kings under new head coach Adika Peter-McNeilly, who took over this season for the former head coach Jordan Baker. Peter-McNeilly who has played professionally for the Edmonton Stingers and multiple overseas teams is no stranger to being a leader, says Antonio Benjamin, who NR92 recently interviewed to get his take on how the season is going so far.

Antonio Benjamin, a forward for the Ooks men’s basketball team says that the team has been coming together nicely with both players and coaches feeling good about the team, great rookies such as Peter-Aluk Deng, Serhat Chen, and Omar Farah showing promise, as well as veteran players continuing to lead the team. “We’re doing pretty good, the team’s coming together, coming together a lot better than we thought, and we just came off a win against Red Deer yesterday, y’know so [we’re] good this year.”

With all that is working out both on and off the court, Benjamin believes that the team has what it takes to go all the way this year and is looking forward to bringing back a banner to the NAIT gymnasium. The Ooks now prepare to take on the Keyano Huskies on October 25th and 26th.
