Drivers getting ready for winter

By Ayman Hashem on October 27, 2023

Winter has almost arrived in Edmonton. This past Monday (October 23rd) marked the first snowfall of the year, and unfortunately, drivers were not quick to adapt. By late Monday afternoon, over 200 collisions had been reported to collision centers in the city. From these collisions, it was also reported that close to 30 people were injured.

While most have yet to prepare their vehicles for the snowy conditions, St. Albert resident Tony Than is one step ahead, saying he’s “bought about 80 pounds total worth of sand bags in the back, and [he’s] bought premium winter tires for [his] car.”

Than has also changed vehicles this year, from a front wheel drive car, to an all-wheel drive, a change he hopes will be safer than his past experiences driving in Edmonton’s winter, which he described as “relatively bad”.
