A voice for the fans

The OilersNation website launched in 2007 when two fans decided they wanted to put their thoughts as fans of the team out in the world. Since then the small blog has grown into a huge success and the go-to news source for many fans, despite having no affiliation with the team they cover.
Tyler Yaremchuk, host and senior producer at OilersNation, said the lack of affiliation allows them to cover the team in a more honest way, without fear of backlash.
“We can truly be us, we can be that voice for the fanbase, we can say what we want to say without having to be worry about any sort repercussions or anything like that. It just gives us so much freedom to really cover the team, the way we want to cover the team.”
Yaremchuk said if he was offered affiliation he would take it, but only with the caveat that he is allowed to continue making content the way he wants to.
