Podcast’s have become a norm for most people when it comes to the content they consume on a daily and unforntunatly so has the use of AI. AI podcasts are slowly creeping their way into scene with sites like Spreaker and even Spotify having AI podcast avaliable to stream.
I took it upon myself to investigate these AI podcasts
This AI podcast follows a familier sea sponge as as he searches for his lost seas snail
Nickalodians Spongebob Squarepants podcast follows the titular character trying to find his los sea snail gary. with the story featuring a bunch of the main cast with the likes of Spongebob, Patrick, Gary and Mister Krabs.
Overall the podcast is terrible, the mixing isn’t very good at all the voices sound robotic. There is an attempt to make a real conversation happen but it just sounds stiff and hard to listen to. If I were to rate the voices in terms of it being believable I would give it at least a three as the voices resemble the voice actors from the actual show. As of the time of writing this the podcast/episode did release back in 2023 and I think if it was released today it would probably sound a little better in terms of quality of voices and background effects. There are just straight occurrences of the audio just glitching out where it becomes incoherent and incomprehensible almost like the ai is trying to dissect a word that is currently being said. It is clear that the person who made this didn’t give it a listen through before posting it.
Real podcasts like “Riff Off” featuring NR92’s Lainey Johnson and Alex Huber is a showcase of how people with little equipment are able to make a product that sounds like shakespear wrote it with interesting conversation and great production
