Edmonton holds a rich wrestling history

Pro-wrestling fans can once again enjoy this form of entertainment in Edmonton.

A ban that was meant for all combative sports has now been lifted on wrestling. PWA promoter, Kurt Sorachan, explains that Edmonton holds a rich history of wrestling.

“Stampede wrestling, if they had not laid the groundwork and foundation for us we wouldn’t be able to do what we do. We were endorsed by the Hart family to continue the tradition of professional wrestling here, so we’ve always taken that very serious.”

Sorachan says City Council was sympathetic towards pro-wrestling, saying they’re entertainers and not combat athletes.

The ban was to run till the end of 2018 after the death of former UFC fighter Tim Hague in Edmonton earlier last year.
