Athletes Come Together for Mental Health

The NAIT Ooks are making some noise for mental health.

Last week the Ooks were the host of Make Some Noise for Mental Health, an annual event that is put on by the ACAC. The initiative which was started in 2015 was started to encourage empathy, understanding and open mindedness while promoting resources and support available on campuses.

NAIT Athletics Promotions Coordinator Sam Nahrgang explained that sports can be more than just competition. “We had the teams before each game to come together as one to do a video together, so the opposing teams come together, just to prove its kind of bigger than sport. We had everyone come together and all the schools were on board.”

If you or someone you know is struggling with mental health NAIT offers free counselling services on campus.
