5-Star Chef Ned Bell Visits NAIT

NAIT’s culinary arts students are questioning where their fish comes from.

Five-star chef Ned Bell taught ocean sustainability to culinary students this week.  Ned Bell left the Four Seasons last year to join the Vancouver Aquarium’s restaurant, Ocean Wise.  He believes that over fishing is the biggest threat facing the world’s oceans today.

“Mother Nature still gives us wild fish.  We don’t eat wild chicken, right?  We eat farmed animals and we need to be conscious of that and live Ocean Wise lives, and pay more attention to what’s on our plate.”

Bell says that by asking where our seafood comes from and how it was caught, we can pressure the fishing industry to keep oceans sustainable.
